First, the weather

We have lots of fun stuff to post about from our short time in Arkansas, but this first post will be about the amazing weather, and protection through that weather, that we have experienced. There has been incredibly persistent thunderstorms all around us over the last two days, interspersed with short spans of beautiful weather. We knew the T-storms were severe, but did not realize that a destructive tornado was affecting central Arkansas as we drove across. We stopped at a Costco in Memphis Tennessee, and I was struck how familiar it seemed inside the store. . . familiar until we heard the siren sound! The helpful young man at the door explained that it was the tornado warning. That explained the nervous shoppers and employees we encountered throughout the store. When we discovered how widespread the warning area really was, it seemed to make as much sense to proceed as to stay. We saw homes in Tennessee that were sitting in water. Then, as we entered Mississippi, the rain stopped and the sun came out. It rained off and on until we arrived here in Huntsville, Alabama. But all is well. We feel the Lord's protection was upon us. After an evening swim in the hotel pool, we are all ready for sleep, then our big day at the US Space & Rocket Center here in Huntsville tomorrow. - Jere

  2. Hope you had a great MAY Day! I was thinking of you all day. I remember being at your house one day. Back when it was just maybe 3 girls. Carrie took a may day gift of flowers to the neighbor. I have wanted to do that every year since. Hmmmmm nope i did not. But I did think of you. :) Thank you all for your inspiration.
