Duggar Country!

A couple of years ago, we met a family from Arkansas while they were selling shammies at the OC fair. They have nine children and travel to the west coast county fairs in an RV during the summer. We sort of invited ourselves to visit their home. They live on 100 beautiful acres in the Ozarks with their horses, donkeys, a mule and Betsy, the milk cow (more about her later). This family gave us a true country welcome!

The girls wasted no time getting on the horses while we toured the property and the younger kids played and rode bikes. No one minded playing in the rain; it only inspired a new idea of swimming in the pond. Between their eight children (eldest son was working) and our six it was a busy group, and with 100 acres to explore these kids were happy as hogs in mud. Fourteen kids was a lot of fun but still short of the Duggars, who are friends of our hosts and who live nearby.

I just gotta tell ya'll...after supper, they brought out big bowls of homemade ice cream freshly made from Betsy's milk. This alone was worth the drive. But good conversation and adventure for the family-well, we just felt spoiled.

We were sorry to say goodbye Saturday morning, but we'll see them again in July when they return to the OC fair.
