As we swing through the Mid-West, we are in Cousin Country! We left Roanoke, VA Tuesday morning and drove through West Virginia, ending up in northern Kentucky. Jere's aunt, uncle, and cousins from Indiana and Michigan booked rooms in the same hotel as us for visiting time. After going to dinner and needing a table for 14, we returned to the hotel and had a sort of jamboree. Flute, guitar, speeches, scenes from musicals, singing and much laughter were the evening's entertainment. How did we manage to do all that without being asked to leave? We are grateful to have had this time with extended family and that they were willing to drive several hours from home to make it happen.
As you can see, we ate at a Bob's Big Boy and stayed at a pretty shabby (and not at all chic) Econo Lodge. But this was definitely an event in which the food and location were not the focus; it was being with the people.
