Robyn posting: the little picture on the side bar doesn't do justice to the fun time we had with longtime family friends on Monday evening. Years ago, Jere's father worked with Don G in the aerospace industry. They remained lifelong friends. One of Don's daughters, Melissa, hosted all of us as well as her own sister and family and their mother, Sue, who is a dear friend of Jere's mom. Whew! Do you have all that?
Melissa and her family live in a charming home built in the late 1800's. They welcomed us in like family and we had a great time being with them. One of the special things of the night was a bag of letters. These were letters written to Don and family years ago by Jere's father (also named Jere, so it gets confusing). Jere (Sr) was a gifted letter writer with a penchant for humor and care for others. Sue wanted to pass these letters back to the Vandewalle family.
They have been fun to read aloud as we drive along, and we look forward to sharing them with the rest of the Vandewalle family when we return.
